Washington D.C. Travel Guide: America’s Capital City

Washington D.C. is where America tells its own story — a city of grand neoclassical monuments, world-class museums (all free), and the halls of power that shape the nation. The capital’s sweeping avenues, the National Mall, and the iconic landmarks of American democracy make it one of the world’s most impressive capital cities.

The National Mall stretches from the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial. The Washington Monument, the Reflecting Pool, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial are all here, free and open to all.
